DAVAO CITY – The office of 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte on Friday donated mobile patrol tricycles to 54 barangays under his congressional district.
In an interview, James Michael Vergara, a representative of the lawmaker's office, said the donation was made under the “Pulong-Pulong ni Pulong” program that aims to improve peace and order in the barangays by enhancing their law enforcement capability.
“This will improve their penetration and reach capacity to their respective barangays as we are still under the general community quarantine (GCQ),” Vergara said, underscoring the importance of monitoring quarantine violators to contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Dumoy Barangay Captain Jessie Mar Culaste agreed, saying the tricycles would increase their mobility and monitoring capability.
“With this, we will now be able to respond to reports on mass gatherings and apprehend the curfew violators. Personally, I have received a lot of complaints on GCQ violators coming from our village chiefs,” Culaste said.
He thanked the congressman on behalf of the barangay captains.
“Rest assured that we will continue to ensure the safety of our constituents,” Culaste added. (Content reposted from Philippine News Agency).
