"Bawal ang pila dito" says Pasig City barangay chief. Barangay Santolan in Pasig City has launched a one-stop shop services center to spare residents of long queues and multiple trips to the barangay hall and government offices for their transactions.
This move aims to centralize basic services, making the
lives of residents easier and comfortable.
“Ang kadalasang naririnig nating problema, kapag barangay o
gobyerno, ang haba ng pila, ang hirap mag-avail ng services, pababalikin ka pa.
Madalas, hindi lang minsan, nasusungitan pa ng mga barangay employees,” said

the barangay to provide efficient public service and reduce bureaucratic
fatigue. (Photo Credit: Barangay Santolan, Pasig City) Read More
Many farmers in various barangays find economic freedom through the SM Foundation. For years, many Filipino farmers have been unable to break the cycle of debt and dependency that often accompanies farming. But through SM Foundation’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farming Program, the beneficiaries are now finding ways to generate a reliable income from agriculture.
Among those whose lives have changed is Connie Flores, a mother of six and a 2023 graduate of the KSK's urban gardening program. Although she had no formal background in agriculture, Connie adapted to the lifestyle of her husband's family, who primarily grew vegetables for their own use.
“Mahirap po ang magsaka. Dahil wala po kaming puhunan noon, lagi kaming umuutang. Kaya kapag umani, ipangbabayad lang po ulit namin,” she recalled. Read More

Far-flung barangays in Sarangani benefit from the Food
Hub Market Day program. For years, it had been a challenge
for small-scale farmers from the upland barangays of the
capital town of Alabel to bring their produce to local markets.
Transport costs and price markups — no thanks to multiple
middlemen — cut deeply into their earnings. For instance,
Datal Anggas, the farthest barangay from the town center, is
21 kilometers away. Direct access to buyers had been both
costly and difficult for the farmers.
That began to change in 2021, when the municipal
government of Alabel launched the Food Hub Market Day, a
weekly initiative that gives farmers a space to sell directly to
consumers. It is held every Tuesday in Barangay Alegria, and
every third Tuesday of the month at the municipal
grounds. Read More
