‘Negosyo sa Barangay’ launched in Ifugao.   The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) last week  in the province.

Valentine Baguidudol, provincial director of DTI – Ifugao, explained that a total of 28 NSBs will be established this year to reach out and assist more entrepreneurs in selected communities in the province.

The prioritized barangays, says the provincial director, will be those that are in nine municipalities  belonging to the 4th and 6th income class. READ MORE

Model Baguio City barangay leads implementation of smoke-free campaign.  The Community Smoke-Free Task Force of Aurora Hill conducted the first ever barangay forum on Ordinance No. 34-2017 or the Smoke-Free Baguio City Ordinance last March 31 hosted by Lopez Jaena, one of the city’s two model barangays in the implementation of the smoke-free campaign.
The conference dubbed “Kapihan sa Barangay” aimed to further enlighten residents and deputized enforcers in the Aurora Hill-Quirino Hill health district on the provisions of the ordinance and to identify and find solutions to the issues arising from the implementation of the measure. READ MORE

Malolos City barangay site of a new cyberpark and business district to rise soon in Bulacan.  A 12-hectare business district, which is seen to provide job opportunities not only to Bulakenyos but also to residents from nearby provinces, will soon rise in a Barangay Bulihan of this city.
The site, according to Frederick Go, President and CEO of Robinsons Land, will attract international business process outsourcing companies or BPOs such as call centers, transcription companies, and third-party BPOs that will provide thousands of jobs to the people of Bulacan. READ MORE

Caloocan barangays declared drug-cleared. Sixteen barangays in Caloocan City had been declared drug-cleared by a committee composed of various government agencies, the city government announced Wednesday.
The committee declared the following barangays as drug-cleared: 1, 41, 42, 47, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 58, 68, 76, 91, 100, 104, and 158.
“This achievement was made possible because of the unflagging efforts of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, the Philippine National Police, and the City Government of Caloocan…” said Anti-Drug Abuse Office head of the city Atty. Sikini Labastilla. READ MORE

54 Calamba City barangays holds food festival to showcase their culinary delicacies.  Native food delicacies and specialties could be the unifying factor for this city’s 54 barangays during the “2nd Salusalo ng Aning CalambeƱo,” a food festival which showcases traditional recipes out of the bounty of the farm harvest, fisheries, and aquatic resources.  
All the barangays participated in the food festival, with farmers, fisherfolk, farm workers and village leaders preparing native dishes like the popular “puto” (rice cake) varieties including “suman”, “kutsinta”, ube (purple yam) sweets, “malagkit” (sticky rice), maruya (fried banana wrapped in flour), “lumpia” (spring roll), shing-a-ling (crispy flour stick), green mango slices, and other native sweet delicacies.
City folks were also treated to a ’ “boodle fight” were special native viands from tinola sa bayabas and papaya (stew in guava and papaya), “pesang dalag” (mudfish stewed in ginger),” sinaing na tulingan” (scad), chicken and pork adobo, pancit (noodle) variety, stuffed egg cakes, dinuguan (pork stewed in blood), “laing” (taro leaves), home-made longganisa (sausage), an array of unique gastronomic delights and beverages from native “barako” coffee, lemon grass and cucumber juices. Calabarzon barangay health workers to be in the frontlines in implementing   new health law.  Barangay health workers or  BHWs as they are better known are being tapped by the Department of Health (DOH) regional office in Calabarzon as frontliners in the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) law, starting at two pilot sites in Batangas and Quezon.
The capability training to be given to the BHWs aims to enhance their capacity and to prepare them for their role as “navigators” in the implementation of the new UHC law signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on February 20 this year, says  Dr. Eduardo C. Janairo, Regional Director  of the DOH office in Reqion 4-A or the CALABARZON Region.  READ MORE



10 Southern Leyte barangays declared as Solid Waste Management Champions.  A total of 10 barangays throughout the province were recognized by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Management Office (PENRMO) as Solid Waste Management (SWM) Champions during the Environment Summit 2019 held recently at the Southern Leyte State University Campus in this town.

The SWM champions ranked 1 to 10 were: Bahay in Lilioan town; Buenavista, Pintuyan; Pinascohan in Maasin City; Mohon, Macrohon; Magbagacay, St. Bernard; San Jose in Sogod; San Vicente in Malitbog; Punong in Tomas Oppus; Lungsodaan in Padre Burgos; and Brgy. San Antonio in San Ricardo.

Dr. Eva Abad of the provincial environment office said winners were judged according to proper solid waste management implementation at the barangay, their roles and responsibilities as barangay constituents, including their efforts of promoting recycling and how to minimize their wastes. ‘Ambushed’ Cebu City barangay councilor resigns after months of absence.  After being absent from work for 10 months, Tejero Barangay Councilor Jessielou Cadungog of Cebu City has resigned.

His resignation took effect May 31, 2019. He said he decided to give up his post because he could no longer perform his duties following the “circumstances” of July 30, 2018.

Since then, Cadungog has not reported for work in the barangay and was, for a time, under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation in the region. READ MORE


Solar dryer with warehouse and rice mill rising at Lanao del Norte barangay  The reconstruction of Solar Dryer and Warehouse with Rice Mill Component under the Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Project Phase II at Barangay Tamparan, Munai, Lanao del Norte begins anew as it officially breaks ground on 23 May 2019.
The project costing Php 1,544,937.33 is now currently being rebuilt in the progressing area of Sitio Kura-Kura. The said project shall provide preserving, storing and processing facilities for the farming communities in the area. READ MORE


Residents in identified flood and landslide prone barangays in Davao City to be relocated.  The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) will push for the declaration of 15 areas as “no build and habitation zones” as these are highly prone to floods and landslides. 
Prior to its implementation, the CDRRMO chief said the city housing will conduct an inspection of all residents living in the area to determine if they qualify for housing relocation.
He added that all structures inside the no-build and habitation zones will be demolished by the City Engineer’s Office. READ MORE
