Manila brgy chair allegedly mauled a teenager who called him "kagawad"

Barangay Chairman Felipe Falcon Jr. of Barangay 350 in Sta. Cruz, Manila is facing charges for allegedly beating a 16-year old male youth for calling him “kagawad” instead of “kapitan”.

The minor’s friend claimed that five men who are believed to be barangay kagawads helped in mauling the teenager.

The victim who sustained head wounds had to go to the hospital for treatment for his injuries.

According to DILG Chief Eduardo Año, Falcon and the five other suspects may be suspended if the victim will file a case at the Ombudsman who may impose a preventive suspension against them while the investigation is ongoing.

The DILG Chief also noted that the department will file administrative charges against the barangay chairman and his council members who were allegedly involved the incident.

In an interview by newsman Raffy Tulfo. Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Martin Diño confirmed that Falcon refuted the allegations against him.

Falcon told Diño that he was the victim of the incident as the minor is the one who mauled him and even damaging his eyeglasses. He even said that he was the one who brought the teenager to Medicolegal.

When asked why Falcon did not return his calls to Tulfo, Diño said that he ran away and hid in Laguna because of what netizens in social media are saying about him. He also said that Falcon is probably scared of Tulfo.

Even if he is free, Falcon was reminded by Diño not to interfere with the investigation and evidence.

It can be remembered that the barangay office of Falcon said they don’t have CCTV cameras to prove that the minor was mauled, which is unbelievable to Tulfo and netizens since CCTVs are required in all barangays.
