At least one police officer to be produced in every
barangay. Senator Bato dela Rosa wants to produce at
least one police officer from every barangay in the country to ensure enough
personnel at the grassroots level and familiarity in the area of responsibility
which will lead to an efficient police service.
The
legislator stressed that at present, there are still some barangays that lack the
ideal number of PNP personnel to maintain peace and order and perform other
crime prevention duties.
The
lawmaker also stressed on the importance of a police officer’s familiarity with

Why did President Duterte urged congress to postpone barangay
and SK elections during his SONA address?
President
Rodrigo Duterte, during his fourth State of the Nation Address recently, called
on Congress to postpone the scheduled May 2020 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan
elections to October 2022.
The
reason he said is to correct the shortened term of sitting barangay officials and to

Poll watchdog groups not in favor of postponement of election. The groups are against the postponing the May 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections as this would deprive voters the opportunity to hold their public officials accountable.
“People are deprived of
their opportunity to exact accountability from these officials via the exercise
of the right to vote,” Rona Caritos, executive director of the Legal Network
for Truthful Elections, said.
“It (polls) provides the
electorate an opportunity to seek accountability from their leaders, grant them
a fresh mandate or if dissatisfied with their performance change their local

Mountain Province barangays get P3.5 million financial aid.
The Provincial Government of Mountain Province released Php
3,600,000 financial aid to the different barangays in the province to sustain
the growth and contribute to the development of the province’s 144 barangays.

Lacwasan, Jr., led the turn-over of checks amounting to Php 25,000 per barangay
during a consultation on revenue generation capabilities for barangay officials
and treasurers on July 25, 2019 at the Multi-Purpose Building in this capital town.
“We have worked for the
increase of the annual financial aid for our front liners to feel the presence
of the government. With our meager budget, we assure that all the barangays

Bataan barangays to receive monetary rewards for
outstanding accomplishment in health. The Provincial Government of Bataan launched the One Bataan
Seal of Healthy Barangay which rewards villages with outstanding
accomplishments in health.
Under the program,
barangays here will be awarded with PhP50,000 per month as long as they meet
the criteria which include zero cases of dengue, measles, animal bites,

Negros Oriental barangay chairman may have taken own life after being questioned on the slaying of 4 four policemen in the province. A barangay chairman, who was implicated in the killing of four policemen in Sitio Yamot, Barangay Mabato in Ayungon, Negros Oriental, reportedly took his own life.
According
to Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office Chief Colonel Raul Tacaca, Barangay
Awaan Chairperson Sunny Caldera, 51, was found unconscious by the roadside
where he fell after violent bouts of vomiting.
Investigators said that Caldera may have drunk

benefits of barangay officials to government employee level. For a month’s worth of work, barangay officials
in lower-income class towns in Cebu receive an honoraria of only P1,000.
This is an amount that is
“far below” the bar. It may be time for barangay officials to have the benefits

For Celestino Martinez III, president of the

Princesa plans to set-up “mini-city
halls” in distant barangays. The
city government of Puerto Princesa announced it is close to finalizing plans to
put up “mini city halls” in several distant barangays designed to expedite
transactions by local residents.
Former city councilor Jonjie Rodriguez, who
was tasked to spearhead the initiative, told Palawan News they are currently polishing the plans” for setting up
the first of such offices in Barangay Macarascas, one of the 31 rural barangays

drug rehab center rises in Negros Oriental barangay. A 16-hectare drug
rehabilitation center in Barangay Silab, Amlan in Negros Oriental was
inaugurated recently to cater to drug users who are seeking rehabilitation and
treatment but cannot afford to go to Cebu or other places for lack of
resources.
The project is in collaboration with the Fazenda da
Esperanca or The Farm of Hope, a rehabilitation center that started out in
Brazil 30 years ago with a faith-based approach to the problem of addiction
(drugs and alcohol) and for those who want to depart from their old life and
