Free housing for indigenous people to rise in Camarines Norte barangay

A total of 58 housing units for the Indigenous People (IPs) will soon be constructed in Barangay Osmeña, Jose Panganiban, this province as relayed by National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Provincial Development Management Officer Agnes Salvino.
Salvino added that of the P10 million allocated for the project, an initial P4.9 million was already released by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the local government unit of Jose Panganiban for its implementation.
She said that the house design is half native and half concrete and will be constructed also as tourism attraction in the said barangay.
The houses will be given for free to 52 legitimate IP families already identified but the NCIP will make customary laws for the maintenance of the said residential units in the community.
The potable water was already provided by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). Roads going to the community were already constructed under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
She also said that a total of 22.4309 hectares of Ancestral Domain Title will be awarded to the indigenous community of Barangay Osmeña, Jose Panganiban on the first quarter of next year where the said houses will be constructed.
On the other hand, a Certificate of Ancestral Domain Claim (CADC) from the 7 barangays of Capalonga town totaling 3,600 hectares is still in the process of segregating some private properties within the IPs claim.
There are 38 organized tribal communities living in the eight (8) municipalities of the province, Salvino relayed.
This was discussed during the “Talakayan sa PIA” held Friday, Oct. 12 in partnership with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
